| A collection of Native American Indian jewelry items. Native Indian jewelry has a long history, with predominantly beadwork and simple metalwork. It gained an impetus in the making of silver jewelry, following the introduction of silversmithing by the Spanish to the American southwest. The Navajo were the first to learn and skills of silversmithing, in about 1860. Atsidi Sani was the first Navajo to have learned the skills. The techniques were taught to the Zuni and then the Hopi tribes. | ||
